A prestigious, award-winning drama series like The West Wing deserves first-class treatment on DVD, and the Complete Series Collection really delivers the goods. Like the series itself, the packaging is first-class all the way. The entire DVD set is held in a dossier file box, with a faux-leather navy blue exterior graced with an embossed silver-foil presidential seal and a magnet-sealing flap that neatly closes the lid with no visible latches or clasps. The 45 DVDs are held in seven individually tabbed and numbered fold-out files (one for each complete season) with a pocket for each DVD and West Wing cast members pictured on each fold-out file. (In addition, the DVDs themselves are labeled with a photo of the entire primary cast.) And while the audio commentaries, behind-the-scenes featurettes, gag reels, and other DVD extras remain the same from the previous individual-season DVD sets, the glossy, lavishly illustrated episode guide is exclusive to this set, and it's a convenient one-stop source for specific episode information. Also exclusive to this set is Aaron Sorkin's Emmy-nominated teleplay for the pilot episode, along with a new foreword by Sorkin detailing the genesis of the series from concept to casting. You can bet that Sorkin and his West Wing colleagues are pleased with the overall presentation of this full-series collection; it's durable, impressively stately without being ostentatious (like President Jed Bartlet himself), and guaranteed to look great on any bookshelf. --Jeff Shannon

What's the west wing Included ?
The west wing-Season One
First season honors for The West Wing include the prestigious Peabody Award for excellence in television, plus an unprecedented 9 Emmy Awards that established this powerful drama as the all-time leader in single-season Emmy wins for a debut series. The debut season follows the exciting and thought provoking inner workings of the Bartlett administration.
The west wing-Season Two
As Season Two's 22 episodes unfold, the President and his staff have been targeted for disruption by rival politicians, just after being targeted by would-be assassins. Yet the determined colleagues continue to serve the U.S. and its President as the administration heads through midterm elections and into a crisis that leads to allegations of criminal conduct. The West Wing's second season won the Best Drama series Emmy and Golden Globe Awards.
The west wing-Season Three
The landmark series had already won two Emmy Awards for Outstanding Drama Series when it claimed yet another for its superb, 22-episode third season, whose storylines include an investigation into the alleged cover-up of President Bartlet's illness, the early bid for a second term and confrontations with global terrorism. Reel-life and real-life events profoundly intersect in the historic Isaac and Ishmael episode made in the wake of the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001.
The west wing-Season Four
The campaign comes to an end in season four. The votes are cast and the re-elected Bartlet Presidency begins its ambitious second term in The West Wing. The highly entertaining fourth season claimed its fourth consecutive Emmy Award for Best Drama. The administration has its agenda and its mandate, but history has a way of imposing agendas and curtailing dreams. Unforeseen events soon dominate as Sam exits to vie for a seat in a Republican congressional stronghold. The Vice-President lays scandal on the White House doorstep and a genocide in Africa raises the question of intervention - and inspires the declaration of a bold foreign policy doctrine. And an unthinkable event leads to the stunning swearing in of a replacement President.
The west wing-Season Five
Ladies and gentlemen: the President of the United States! Glen Allen Walken, the Speaker of the House and iron-willed conservative, becomes temporary president while President Bartlet copes with his daughter's kidnapping. West Wing Staffers are torn between duty to the current Chief Executive and loyalty to the former. The resolution of the kidnapping crisis and Bartlet's tenuous return to power are two of the intriguing storylines in an eventful fifth season that brought a Best Actress Emmy to Allison Janney for her portrayal of Press Secretary C.J. Cregg. Other highlights in this season: a surprise VP replacement, jockeying for Supreme Court appointments and a fateful trip to Gaza.
The west wing-Season Six
The line forms here. As the Bartlet administration enters its last year, Oval Office hopefuls emerge from both major parties. And so do political strategists eager to back those bids for the White House - dreamers and doers willing to leave their West Wing posts for another grab at the brass ring. An up-and-coming congressman (Jimmy Smits) and an astute Republican senator (Alan Alda) are among the Presidential aspirants. But in addition to the running for office, there's the business of running the country - a job on the shoulders of Bartlet (Martin Sheen) and his now reorganized staff. It's a taxing job under any circumstance, even more so when the nation's commander-in-chief battles the ravages of the candidates, the staff, and the nation: see how they run in this remarkable sixth season.
The west wing-Season Seven
The seventh season of the West Wing chronicles the transition between the administration of President Josiah 'Jed' Bartlet and the race for the new presidency between Congressman Mathew Vincente Santos of Houston, Texas and Senator Arnold Vinick of California. The season ends with a new administration in the West Wing.

It's difficult to write anything new here, but I had to join the praises. This show is an absolute breathtaking masterpiece. I have NO idea how they put this thing together so brilliantly, but EVERYTHING about the show works. I am a huge fan of shows like the sopranos, six feet under, etc., but this one tops them all.
As all have mentioned, the acting, writing, directing are all genius, and the show really works because it creates a family for the entire seven seaons. In watching the show from start to finish, you notice that the same reporters are always present, the same small, bit players are all there. The dedication that is shown really demonstrates that the cast knew they were a part of something special. All of the small players crackle on the screen, and regulars are truly breathtaking.
You just watch this show and want the world to be run the way they portray the white house. This is a show that should be required watching for every child in this country, and a wonderful show to feature to up and coming democracies, come to think of it. Go out there and buy this incredible work of art.

This is most definitely the only way to purchased a series: the entirety of the series in order to continually watch each episode. The show is great, with very good (but far from perfect writing). Let me tell you now: I'm addicted to this show, as I'm a political and news junkie.
It's a must no matter what you believe in (even though the administration in the show is center-left Democratic).

This excellent series is available in a complete DVD set, along with extras and beautiful packaging. It is a must for any serious "West Wing" fan!

The West Wing is one of the few shows I can think of that won a ton of Emmys - and deserved them. It all starts with brilliant writing (informed, interesting, dramatic, and humorous, often at the same time), but throw in an incredible cast, set design, directing, and on and on. It all adds up to one of the greatest television series of all time.
The boxed set contains the complete series as well as numerous bonus features. The box is nice, but I don't like the way the dvd discs are arranged within it. Though the folders look cool and allow all the dvds to be contained in a relatively small amount of space, the discs have to be slid in and out of their holders, which puts them at risk of being scratched. (Much preferable would have been an arrangement like you'd see in the season sets of Homicide: Life on the Street and Battlestar Galactica, in which each disc has its own thin case that it can click into.)
Despite that quibble, everything else about this set is all you can hope for in a series. Every season was excellent, even if the post-Sorkin years weren't quite on the level of the earlier seasons (though I do think the show finished with a strong final season). It's a rare thing to find a program of this quality, and I couldn't recommend The West Wing more highly.

I purchased this for my husband for christmas since he has followed the series from the first. He loves the compact box the series came in. It is attractive and compact and keeps the dvds safe in one convenient spot.

My family had recently watch season 1 of West Wing, renting it through Blockbuster video. We tried in vain to find season 2 of West Wing to rent, so we decided to buy the series. It was on sale through Amazon at $15 per season right before Christmas, in individual boxed seasons. My wife then found this collectors set with all 7 seasons in one nice package. We have been EXTREMELY pleased with the quality and features of the set. Each season comes packaged in its own fold out sleeve or divider, with a bonus disc at the end giving details about the show and certain episodes. There also is a book depicting what is on each season and on each disc, a brief TV Guide synopsis so to speak. There also is a booklet containing information about the show, each character and various other interesting information. All-in-all, you get much more detail and information with the collectors set versus individual season boxes. I love it and if you are a West Wing fan as we are, you should absolutely buy this.
