Stargate Atlantis Description
There the Stargate Atlantis team encounters a number of primitive human civilizations ... as well as The Wraith, a sinister new enemy that threatens human life everywhere.
The Stargate Atlantis mission is headed by Dr. Elizabeth Weir (Torri Higginson), a spet in diplomatic relations. Her political savvy is balanced by the go-with-your-gut bravado of her military counterpart, Maj. John Sheppard (Joe Flanigan), a courageous and gifted pilot. Rounding out the team are Lt. Aiden Ford (Rainbow Sun Francks), the enthusiastic young officer who becomes Sheppard's second-in-command; and Dr. Rodney McKay (David Hewlett), a clever and quick-witted astrophysicist with previous experience at Stargate Command. The team is befriended by Pegasus galaxy native Teyla (Rachel Luttrell), a beautiful young leader among the Athosian people, with whom the Atlantis team forges an uneasy alliance against The Wraith.
In a special guest starring role, sci-fi favorite Robert Patrick appeared as Col. Marshall Sumner in the two-hour Atlantis premiere event.
New faces join the team in the second season. Most notable among them are Ronan Dex (Jason Momoa), a human native to the Pegasus galaxy who has fought the Wraith for seven years in defense of his planet. And from Earth comes Col. Steven Caldwell (Mitch Pileggi), the commander of Earth's newest intergalactic battle cruiser, the Daedalus.

A team of scientists and military personnel is dispatched to the distant Pegasus galaxy to explore the remnants of the Lost City of the Ancients--also known as Atlantis--in this first season of the STARGATE SG-1 spin-off series. The Ancients were an advanced human race that initially created the Stargate network, and diplomat Dr. Elizabeth Weir (Torri Higginson) and pilot Major John Sheppherd (Joe Flanigan) head the international squad that is sent to investigate. The team arrives at Atlantis to find the city abandoned and their ship permanently stranded, unless they can find a power source to get themselves home to earth. They make contact with a brave but primitive native civilization as well as with the evil Wraith, a species that feeds on fear and, it quickly becomes clear, poses a threat to human life everywhere. Sheppard's brash, instinctive nature contrasts with the calm thoughtfulness of Dr. Weir, and their team is rounded out by Sheppard's second-in-command Lt. Aidan Ford, witty Scottish doctor Carson Beckett, Pegasus native leader Teyla Emmagen, and inimitable scientist Rodney McKay. The 20 episodes of the first season have the Stargate team feeling their way around this dangerous new galaxy and interacting with its varied inhabitants, while being forced to work as a team and learn more about each other as well.

With this fourth season of the hit sci-fi series, things take a turn in a bleak new direction, with team leader Dr. Weir injured and captured by the evil Asurans as the damaged city of Atlantis drifts through space. Meanwhile, McKay reprograms the Asuran base code, causing the alien race to wage a war with the Wraith. Finally, hybrid Michael plays against both the humans and his own former Wraith race as this electric season hurtles toward its thrilling conclusion.
